When Frank “True Brit” Bruno was performing at his prime in the 1980s, the Heavyweight division resembled was shock full of some of the biggest names in the sport. With a hugely talented and well known pool that included Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, and Oliver McCall, among others, waiting for their shot at pugilistic domination. Fourteen eventful years, from 1982 to 1996, saw him win forty bouts and lose five.

But that sufficient to inscribe his name among the greatest boxers who came out of Great Britain in recent times. Recognizing his services to the sport, the Queen awarded him the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1990. Critics claim this is the worst setback the British monarchy is facing since Prince Charles divorced Princess Diana in the 1990s. That being the case, only four months had passed since Queen Elizabeth’s death and Prince Charles’s accession to the throne.

According to royal biographer Tina Brown, “So here’s Charles trying to establish himself as the new king and now Harry’s thrown this hand grenade and it’s all coming kind of crashing around him.”

Frank Bruno advises everyone to be a bit more reasonable in their approach to the issues

Frank Bruno’s respect and admiration for the royal family are well known. However, given the latest incident’s fuss, he took to his Twitter handle. He shared that many people have approached him for his thoughts and views of him on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Ascertaining that the entire issue has disheartened him, he reminded everyone of a balanced approach to every narrative.

He mentioned that he hated to see the Royal Family tearing apart, irrespective of the reason. And that there are two sides to every story.

At London’s Wembley Stadium, on 2nd September 1995, Frank Bruno became the WBC’s Heavyweight champion. However, the happiness lasted just a few months when Mike Tyson snatched it away at MGM Grand on 16th March 1996. He injured his eyes badly during the bout. In turn, pushing the doctors to tell Bruno not to risk it further. And he decided to retire.

After that, he suffered a range of mental issues. But over some time, he trounced the challenges and has now become one of the most known voices in the fight against mental illness stigma. Moreover, his ‘Frank Bruno Foundation’ works to improve men’s mental health worldwide.
