KSI is currently preparing to fight MMA star Dillon Danis after previously being humbled by UFC legend Michael Bisping during a training session.
KSI and Danis are preparing to box each other at the OVO Wembley Arena on January 14 in the fourth edition of DAZN’s collaboration with the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s promotional company, Misfit’s Boxing.
However, this is not the first time ‘JJ’ has tussled with an MMA fighter.
In May 2018, EA Sports released UFC 3 and called upon Bisping and KSI to help them promote the game by sharing some rounds in the gym.
Unsurprisingly, the former UFC middleweight champion tossed KSI to the floor with ease, jokingly locked him in submissions, and basically beat him up for most of the session.
After finding fame on YouTube, KSI transitioned to fighting and boasts a 1-0 professional record after picking up a split decision win over Logan Paul in 2019.
In August, the 29-year-old stopped rapper Swarmz and 2-7 professional boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda in back-to-back exhibition bouts at London’s O2 Arena.
For that reason, he is highly fancied heading into his upcoming fight with Danis, who despite training with Conor McGregor is not known for being a great striker.
Danis, who is also 29 years old, linked up with Notorious in 2016 when he was fresh off a loss to Nate Diaz and determined to improve his grappling skills ahead of a rematch.
So, he called on Danis who holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was highly regarded in the BJJ world until his career took a turn for the worse.
The American transitioned to MMA and went 2-0 in the sport before suffering a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since July 2019.
During his time out of action, Danis has picked fights with several big names including Bisping who has publicly expressed his dislike for McGregor’s teammate on several occasions.
After Danis asked the UFC Hall of Famer to predict his upcoming fight, Bisping sarcastically responded: “Tough call. I mean, you’re known for having devastating boxing skills, right. I fear KSI may have messed up here.”
However, KSI didn’t seem to get the fact Bisping’s response was very much tongue in cheek and hit back by posting a video of their 2018 training session.
He tweeted: “LMAO, you have felt my power on the pads, and back then I was terrible. Dillon is sleeping whether I train or not.
“Here we have Bisping singing my praises when I was terrible. Imagine what I’d do to Dillon now?”
