STUMPS: Bangladesh 272/6, trail by 241

Shakib and Mehidy have managed to take this into the final day. India just need four wickets and Bangladesh will be hoping for a miracle to get ahead from here. Can they do the unthinkable? Join us again tomorrow to follow all the action!

WICKET: Axar gets another

Sharp work from Rishabh Pant. Axar gets another one to rip away off the pitch, Nurul overbalances while stretching out to defend and Pant is quick to break the stumps. Two wickets in the over from Axar.

WICKET: Mushfiqur bowled

Pant’s gaffe doesn’t cost much. Axar Patel comes in and bowls one slightly slower than usual, it grips and whizzes past Rahim’s edge to uproot the offstump.

Mushfiqur dropped!

Umesh Yadav gets a regulation outside edge off the second new ball but Rishabh Pant spills a straightforward chance. It goes to his right and he sticks out one hand but cannot latch on. Big reprieve for Mushfiqur on 22.

India lose a review…

Axar Patel strikes Shakib on the pad and it looked close but replays show that he got a thin inside edge on it. India lose the review , and Shakib promptly proceed to dance down to hit a four and a six over midwicket off Axar.

WICKET: Ashwin gets Zakir

First wicket of the match for Ashwin. He brings out the slider and Zakir gets a thick inside edge onto his pad, and it lobs up behind where Kohli takes the chance at slip. Lui falls after a 223-ball 100, scoring nearly half of Bangladesh’s total runs.

TON FOR ZAKIR!

He sweeps Axar Patel down to the fine leg boundary and brings up a hundred on debut! What a knock with Bangladesh up against the wall. He’s single-handedly kept them plugging away.

TEA: Bangladesh 176/3, trail by 337 runs

India conceded only 57 runs in that second session and also picked up three wickets. Their bowlers have found the methods to be threatening on the slow pitch and Bangladesh have been made to fight harder than they did in the first. It’s still not an unplayable pitch, and Zakir nears a century on debut. So a lot to look forward to in the final session as well. Stay tuned…

WICKET: Litton Falls

Kuldeep Yadav had him in trouble right through and Litton eventually perishes. He tries to loft a googly but ends up chipping it straight to mid on.

Zakir sticks in

India bowled tight after the Lunch interval. They’ve alternated between Axar Patel at one end and the seamers at the other. The runs have trickled down but Zakir Hasan is sticking in and willing to wait for the loose delivery. He moves into the 70s in what has been an impressive debut so far.

WICKET: Axar gets one

Yasir Ali is left a little stunned as Axar gets a little turn from middle stump and beats the defense to have him clean bowled. That should boost India, Bangladesh 131/2 now.

WICKET: Umesh gets the breakthrough

Some luck for India after the break. Shanto pokes out at one from Umesh and gets a thick edge to slip. But Kohli palms it away to his right hand, and Pant is alert enough to take the rebound despite a juggle. Shanto falls for 67 and a 124-run stand has been broken.

LUNCH: Bangladesh 119/0 trail by 394 runs

It has been a top class session overall for Bangladesh, and India have only threatened once Axar Patel came into the attack. A lot of cricket still left in this game, but suddenly the fourth innings has come alive. Join us again after Lunch…

Fifty for Zakir!

A fifty for the debutant. He’s engaged in a nice little battle with Axar Patel who troubled him in his first over but is then clipped over midwicket for a boundary enroute to the fifty. This has been a very impressive knock so far.

100 partnerships up!

Bangladesh are moving from strength to strength here and posing more than a few tough questions for India, who have not even come close to a breakthrough on the fourth morning.

Fifty for Shanto!

After a golden duck in the first innings, this has been an impressive comeback from the opener. He’s gone at a good clip on the second morning, and is posing quite a few questions for India who have been searching hard for a breakthrough but to no avail.

50 stands comes up!

This has been a rather confident start from the openers, they’ve hardly been troubled despite some turn on offer. This should boost the batting line-up’s confidence.

Welcome…

Bangladesh are in pursuit of 512 in the fourth innings and have started well with an unbeaten 42-run opening stand. There’s a lot of time still left in the game, so can they manage to give India a scare? The pitch has been keeping low and taking some turn but India showed that it wasn’t a pitch where runs couldn’t be scored. Will Bangladesh be able to carry that forward? Stay tuned….
