Tyson Fury Vs. Oleksandr Usyk Could Be Heading To Wembley Stadium In Late April

By Matt Lieberman: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk could be heading to Wembley Stadium in London in late April.

Gareth A. Davies states that it’s looking like the Fury-Usyk undisputed heavyweight match will be taking place at Wembley Stadium.

That’s good news for British fans because they’ll have a chance to see the Fury vs. Usyk fight live without needing to pay a lot of money to travel to Saudi Arabia to watch it in person.

Apparently, the offer they received to stage the fight in Saudi Arabia isn’t what it needs to be to stage it over there, so it could be heading to Wembley unless the Saudis sweeten the deal.

You can argue that WBC champ Fury’s fight with IBF, WBA & WBC heavyweight champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) isn’t a big enough match-up for the Saudis to want to pay a massive site fee to bring it over there . If Anthony Joshua were the one fighting Fury, it’s entirely possible that this would interest the Saudis to bring

“Let’s get this fight announced. We thought it was going to be in Saudi Arabia. I know that Wembley Stadium is an option for late April, as was Saudi,” said Gareth A. Davies to BoxingSocial about the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight. “They’ll get this over the line unless they argue about money and don’t.

“I think it’s a 50-50 fight in the purse splits, but people will argue that Tyson Fury draws the crowds. But Oleksandr Usyk has three belts, and he’s had them for two years. I think he deserves his due. 55-45, maybe, but 60-40 is a bit unfair.

“Obviously, what I did know is both men were doing their own negotiations with Saudi for their own deal. They were doing it separately. But it looks like it’s heading to Wembley Stadium. It would be absolutely amazing,” said Gareth.

It’s looking like Wembley. It’s the right place for the fight right now,” said Davies to iFL TV on the Fury-Usyk match. “Look, Beterbiev is coming here to defend his belts of him. What’s wrong with having a massive fight at Wembley Stadium?

“I believe the date is late April, and maybe Fury is looking at a different split now because it’s going to be here in the UK. Yeah, Fury does contradict himself about money. I’ve done interviews with him before where he said money doesn’t interest him and he’d fight Anthony Joshua for free, but it’s just talk.

“Of course, he’s not going to fight for free, but it’s still going to be a massive fight. I think it should be a 50-50 purse split in my book. Yeah, I think so. Why not?” said Gareth when asked if the split should still be 50-50, even if the fight is at Wembley Stadium.

“They can have that argument. That’s between the lawyers and the negotiators and the promoters and the fighters themselves,” said Gareth about Fury possibly asking for a bigger cut if the fight takes place at Wembley Stadium due to him being the bigger draw.

“I think it should be 50-50. Usyk is bringing three belts. He won them two years ago. He defended them a year ago. He brings so much to this event. He’s a London Olympic gold medalist. Look, Fury might draw a big crowd, but Usyk does as well.

“It’s two men in this fight. It’s the undisputed title. Tyson, I don’t believe, as he says, motivated by money. Yes, of course, he’s drawing a big crowd, but given that Usyk holds the three belts, 50-50 or 55-45, but 60-40, I don’t think is fair.

“Let’s hope that money doesn’t get in the way of this fight now. Let’s have an announcement of this fight very soon. We’ve had too much waiting in the heavyweight division over the last 18 months. Let’s get this fight over the line. Hopefully, we’ll hear this week.

“Bob Arum is in town, and hopefully, Tyson will be in town at some point, maybe Saturday night. Frank Warren is around, and George Warren is around.

“Let’s get it over the line. It’ll be interesting to see if it has slid away from Saudi and they’re not getting the offers they want, and they’re coming here. That’s good news, as far as I’m concerned,” said Gareth.
